From a winter to another winter - Devlog 005

I moved back to Chile from Spain and with that comes the switching of seasons again. A winter that goes to another winter. This looping is what I like to think as the reason of me being forever stuck at 24 years old, the first time I came to Santiago. Coming back, I was happy to find the little sushi place I loved was still here. The owner was no longer there but someone of their family was taking care of it. I prepared myself for the disappointment caused by the romantic flavour I slowly cooked in my head for all these years,  but strangely the fried sushi was as delicious as I remembered.

And as shiny too.

It's been near 4 months since the last update and a lot has been happening. First of all, the Queer Games Bundle. Each year I like to stop everything I'm doing for two weeks and dive into what's new and make a trailer out of it. This year bundle is already over, but please use this as an excuse to dive deep on to the games you bought or just to take a peek of where gaming is going next. You can find the list of games that participated on this year edition here

So how HITME3's development has been going ?

It's been on non-stop for all this year.  Last July, I got a build that we could play from start to finish. The act of a game working, is sometimes magical for the developer but not so much for the player as they tend to have this crazy expectation of things working all the time. So these last few months I've been trying to be more of a player. Also, I've been asking myself: ¿Do I like this because it's me who is making it?

In that sense it's been really inspiring watching The First Slam Dunk, a movie about a basketball match and many more. Each scene is directed with such a precise eye that I was crying for most of it. For the whole movie I was wondering who directed it wondering ¿Who can understand these characters so well? Turns outs it was the author of the manga himself, Takehiko Inoue, who directed the movie. If you want to treat something with love, you "only" need to do it yourself. If you get the chance to the watch it, please do.

Welcome back home, Nam

This awe of amplifying what's already there is what I'm trying to work on. Going scene by scene and working the details. It's the first time I showed a work without being finished, that means being open to opinions and ouch. I hope you make yourself home when it's done. Also if someone has any advice about how to build saving systems on Unity, every advice will be welcomed.

Big hugs and big love,

from the not so cold Santiago,

Xiri

i love to hear that everything is going well and that it seems like that you have a great and lovingly relationship with your game. i think it's an important thing to have because this way it has the power to give some of the energy back to you that you poured into it!

i can't wait for more :)

like the energy tomorrow is my birthday was giving back! thank you for that!!

I'm so happy to hear development is going well, it's so exciting! I can't wait! Re: saving, I really recommend using a pre-built system for it from the asset store and not trying to do it for yourself. ...unless you're using Unity Visual Scripting, it has Saved Variables that are pretty reliable (QMP just saved an int of the level number and loaded that scene. Feel free to chuck me a message if you want to chat about this more).

I'm using the Dialogue System from Pixel Crushers and trying to work from there. I totally will, thank you so much for the support!! Hope life and the development has being treating you well!

Oh that's great! We're using Dialogue System's saves for Janet too! Haven't quite gotten to it yet, but I'll be working that out soon. We can go on this journey TOGETHER <3

Yaii, that sounds fun! Let me know when u get there!
